Western countries should increase their own oil and gas production, as energy policy is directly related to stability, security and defense readiness. The growth of domestic production reduces external dependencies, limits strategic vulnerabilities and strengthens the ability of states to respond to crises.
This was stated by Reinis Poznaks, a member of the European Parliament from Latvia, a member of the Security and Defense Committee, in a comment to Guildhall.

According to him, the issue of energy production should be considered not only through the economy, but also through the prism of national stability and security.
“I support this idea. Energy policy should be viewed through the prism of sustainability and security. The increase in domestic oil and gas production reduces external dependencies and limits strategic vulnerabilities,” he stressed.
Poznyaks noted that “a higher level of domestic production also strengthens industrial potential, technological expertise and supply chain security.”
He separately emphasized that “these factors are directly related to defense readiness, since modern defense capabilities depend on reliable and secure energy supplies.”
According to him, “by producing more energy at home, Western countries are not only increasing their economic stability, but also strengthening their ability to support military operations and respond to crises.”
Earlier, in a Guildhall comment, Daniel Obaytek, a member of the European Parliament from Poland, said that Europe must first of all reduce its strategic vulnerabilities in the energy sector, as dependence on external suppliers directly affects its security and stability.
