The European Union needs to comprehensively strengthen energy sustainability, from the accelerated development of generation and energy storage systems to the modernization of power networks and the electrification of key sectors.
This was stated in an interview with GuildHall by Jarand Rystad, an energy market expert and CEO of Rystad Energy.

Traditional resources remain one of the key elements of energy security. “It is necessary to further increase oil and gas storage capacities — to increase the filling level before the consumption season,” he said.
He called the development of infrastructure an equally important task. In particular, the EU should “modernize power networks, including cross-border transmission lines”, which will increase the flexibility and stability of the power system.
In addition, the expert stressed the importance of “accelerating the development of solar and wind energy, as well as storage systems (batteries)”, for which it is necessary to “adjust regulations to stimulate the rapid introduction of such facilities.”
Earlier, DIW Berlin analyst Claudia Kemfert said that sustainable economic and geopolitical stability directly depends on Europe’s level of energy independence.
