Russia must be held accountable for human rights violations in the TOT — German MEP

The international community must continue to hold Russia accountable through tough sanctions, diplomatic isolation, and unwavering support for Ukraine. Coordinated efforts are also needed to monitor and document human rights violations, as well as to employ legal mechanisms to bring those responsible to justice.

This was stated in a comment to Guildhall by Udo Bullmann, a Member of the European Parliament from Germany, representing the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats.

«The international community must continue to hold Russia accountable through robust sanctions, diplomatic isolation, and unwavering support for Ukraine’s defence and reconstruction efforts. Coordinated efforts to monitor and document human rights abuses, alongside legal mechanisms to pursue accountability, are essential. We must also ensure sustained political and financial backing for Ukraine, reinforcing EU unity and global cooperation to uphold the rules-based international order and protect human rights in these occupied regions», — the politician noted.

Earlier, Member of the European Parliament (The Left group) from Germany, Sebastian Everdin, condemned the ethnic cleansing of Ukrainians in the temporarily occupied territories. In his opinion, the international community is obliged to firmly denounce the crimes against humanity committed by the Russian Federation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, including the forced assimilation of Ukrainian citizens aimed at erasing their linguistic and cultural identity.
