A German MEP condemned the ethnic cleansing of Ukrainians in the TOT

The international community must strongly condemn the crimes against humanity committed by the Russian Federation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, which include the forced assimilation of Ukrainian citizens aimed at destroying their linguistic and cultural identity.

This was stated in a comment to Guildhall by Sebastian Everding, a Member of the European Parliament from Germany (The Left group).

«Without question: the Russian forced assimilation of Ukrainian citizens with the aim of eradicating their linguistic and cultural identity is a crime against humanity and violates both the Geneva Convention and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. Such actions must not be tolerated by the international community», — noted the politician.

Earlier, Finnish Member of Parliament Heikki Autto stated that the Russian Federation must be held accountable for the ethnic cleansing of Ukrainians in the temporarily occupied territories. In his view, Western countries must ensure that all those responsible for war crimes committed in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine are brought to justice. Europe must continue to increase military aid to Ukraine and intensify sanctions pressure. It is also critically important that Moscow clearly understands that sanctions will not be lifted until fair justice is restored for all cases of war crimes and human rights violations committed on Ukrainian territory.
