Russian special services misinform the West to undermine the military supplies to Ukraine — Danylyuk

Russian special services are conducting an operation to misinform Western governments about the alleged lack of modern weapons in the Russian army. The purpose of such disinformation is to convince Western countries that there is no need to supply heavy weapons to Ukraine and to undermine military-technical assistance to Ukraine.

This was stated by the head of the Center for Defence Reforms, coordinator of the interdepartmental platform for countering hybrid threats, which operates within the framework of Ukraine-NATO cooperation, Oleksandr V. Danylyuk on his Facebook page.

“The Russian special services have launched a disinformation game to convince that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are experiencing a shortage in modern weapons, thus began purchasing them from the third world countries,” he said.

“The goal of the disinformation game is to create an impression, primarily in the West, that Ukraine does not need heavy weapons and increase in military-technical assistance,” summed up the head of the Center for Defence Reforms.

Earlier, the head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Estonian Parliament, Marko Michelson, said that the only way to achieve a strategic defeat of Russia in the war against Ukraine and subsequently ensure the security of Europe is to provide Ukraine with all the necessary types of heavy and offensive weapons, including aviation, artillery, air defence and other systems.

Also, a member of the Latvian Parliament, President of the Baltic Assembly Janis Vucans, in turn, said that Latvia could strengthen itself in providing military and non-military assistance to Ukraine.

Pierre Person, member of the French parliament from the ruling party and a close associate of President Emmanuel Macron, said that France could provide Ukraine with heavy weapons, including tanks, anti-artillery systems and airspace control. In addition, France has secure communications systems that must be supplied to the Armed Forces of Ukraine for effective interaction on the battlefield.

CDU/CSU Bundestag deputy Jürgen Hardt said that Germany should impose sanctions against the Russian Federation that increase the cost of its aggression and to do everything possible to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including the supply of heavy weapons and the training of Ukrainian military personnel. The German government should study the possibility of German armed enterprises supplying military equipment to Ukraine.

Member of the Storting, Parliament of Norway, Ola Elvestuen said that the West, in particular the NATO countries, should significantly increase military assistance to Ukraine. Norway should transfer to Ukraine modern NASAMS air defence systems and the latest Norwegian Naval Strike Missile anti-ship attack missiles.

A call for an increase in military supplies to Ukraine was also made by Shadow Minister for National Defence of Canada and member of the Canadian Parliament James Bezan. According to him, Canada should provide Ukraine with Harpoon anti-ship missiles, LAV light armoured vehicles and armoured ambulances, while NATO allies should provide MiG-29 aircraft.

Member of the House of Representatives of the British Parliament Sir Roger Gale said that all the necessary weapons of a defensive nature, including fighter jets, should be transferred to Ukraine. The volume of the military aid and the speed of deliveries must be increased.
